07/04/2022

The removable pools allow us to take a good dip without resorting to the execution of a work and have an affordable price. A concrete pool or the emptying of land to install a prefabricated polyester or fiberglass pool involves time and money residential pool plans. However, at Uppers we believe that this acquisition should not be taken lightly either. Experts in the field have given us a series of recommendations and tips for buying a removable pool so that it works correctly and is safe. They have also told us how to carry out its maintenance and, a basic, what can be put under a removable pool.

1. Location

Choosing the place where to install the removable pool is elementary. The experts detail that the area must have the following facilities nearby or easily accessible:

  1. A water intake to fill the pool.

  2. A drain for emptying.

  3. An electrical outlet to connect the treatment plant.

On the one hand, it is essential to mark the space chosen to know the maximum measurements of the pool, taking into account that we are going to access it and carry out maintenance. It is advisable to leave a minimum of 50 cm around the pool and if we choose an oval or rectangular pool, the necessary distance can reach up to 1 m, taking into account the reinforcements.

As for the ground itself, it must be firm and resistant . On the one hand, it will support a great weight ; a pool of 1,000 liters is equivalent to a cubic meter or a thousand kilos. It should never be placed on balconies and terraces or on soft ground or with unstable fill.

On the other hand, water, gas or electricity connections must not pass under the selected area, just as there can be no power lines above it.

In addition, it is recommended that it be a sunny area, protected from the wind and without trees around whose leaves or pollen dirty the water. Likewise, you have to be sure that there is no risk of flooding when it rains.

2. Land preparation

The pool needs a level and smooth ground. In addition, it is usually lined with a PVC material called a liner with waterproof, flexible and tear-resistant properties, on which the tightness of the assembly depends. Even so, it is essential to prepare for the chosen area. There are two possibilities: build a level concrete or cement platform or compact the ground . The first is the most recommended by experts, but also the one that requires a larger economic budget. As for the second, the guidelines for compacting the ground are:

  1. Remove roots, stones, herbs, etc.

  2. Level the land by removing soil from where it is left over, instead of filling in where it is missing.

  3. Compact the ground until it is solid and firm.

  4. Pour a layer of a maximum of 1 cm thick of sifted fine sand.

  5. Sprinkle the layer of sand with water to achieve greater compaction.

  6. Double check that the ground is level.

3. Installation and commissioning

It is convenient to have help and if you manage to form a minimum group of three people it will be much easier. Choosing a day without wind and not excessively hot will also help everything go smoothly. As for the time needed for the installation, it depends on its size.

4. Maintenance

The pool will be outdoors and is subject to weather conditions . The cleaning of leaves, branches, earth, etc., that may fall into the water should be a daily operation. As well as keeping the liner clean of dirt and mainly that green algae does not form attached to the material both on the bottom and on the walls.

These pools are usually installed with a filter system for impurities in the water , such as a sand treatment plant. The motor they incorporate allows you to connect a suction pool cleaner . In the same way that the water is filtered, it must be treated with chlorine tablets suitable for liners or with a floating dispenser. There is also the option of starting up a salt chlorinator, more expensive, but safer, more comfortable and healthier.

Once a week you have to measure the pH of the water and the chlorine so that it adjusts to the optimum levels.

Leaving cleaning aside, a permanent review of the installation is necessary : hoses connected and without leaks, correctly and stable mounted ladder, tight screws, correct operation of the filtration system...

5. Season Closure

Once the season is over you can choose between leaving the pool assembled for the following year or dismantling it. This last option requires being meticulous so as not to lose the pieces as well as being neat, so that the materials are kept in perfect condition. It is necessary to clean and dry the components and store them protected in a clean place without humidity.
